One of the most common questions people ask me these days when I’m running Vive demos is whether or not their computer can handle VR. What specs do they need? Do they need to upgrade their PC? Luckily, there are more than enough tools out there to give you a bit of guidance on this. Here are four of them!

Here are a few shots from my VR benchmarking adventures!

Oculus Compatibility Check

Download size: 18.1MB

Price: Free!

Download link:https://ocul.us/compat-tool

Summary: A quick check against your PC specifications.

Details: The Oculus Compatibility Check is great if you just want to have something go through your PC’s specifications (e.g. how much RAM you have, your CPU, your graphics card… etc) and decipher whether or not they’re good enough. It runs through everything pretty quickly and then gives guidance on what aspects of your PC are ready for VR and which aren’t.

I’d recommend running the SteamVR one below after this one if you’re looking to get a Vive, but if your computer doesn’t pass the Oculus test, it’s not likely to be very good for the Vive either.

Left: The initial screen for the Oculus Performance Test. Right and Center: The results screen!

It also provides a downloadable HTML file of your results that looks like so:

SteamVR Performance Test

Download size: 1.9GB

Price: Free!

Download link:http://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/

Summary: A more thorough free test but it is a large download!

Details: The SteamVR performance test runs through a variety of 3D scenes and tests to see how well your PC handles them. It also does a check of your system’s specifications like the Oculus Compatibility Check does, but goes beyond that. Due to the extra and more thorough testing, it is definitely worth noting that its download size is much bigger at about 1.9GB! If you want to be sure of how well your system will handle it and at what level, this is the best option for you.

Cheat codes gamecube. To run the test, you open up the app through Steam and it will automatically start its test which looks like so:

Once it is done, the results appear like this (I’ve already expanded out the “More Details” at the bottom):

VRMark

Download size: 1.1GB

Price: Free version has test for recommended specs, US$19.99 version has advanced test

Homework cheat sites. Searches for a homework cheat app have skyrocketed over the past year. However, the sad reality is that a universal homework cheat doesn’t exist. There is no system and no strategy that will work all the time and for every kind of test or school assignment. The good news is.

Why do i like cheating in video games. The folks behind EasyAntiCheat, a service that stops people from cheating in video games, deal with one of the messiest issues in the medium.People often feel that anyone caught breaking the rules. Video games are extremely popular in contemporary societies. It's hard to find people that do not have experience with some form of games. Temptation to cheat arose along with the rapid development. Cheating in video games within the scope of a casual scene will never, ever be considered illegal. Because there is no real extensive value on the line. Take one of my favorite games for example, Counter Strike: GO. Competitive Matchm. Sometimes players would send in proof of cheats with video evidence, but careful players (often snipers) could use the cheat to show all enemy players on the map, force melee criticals, enable.

Summary: For those looking to get really thorough results and be able to test their PC to the limit — both with and without a VR headset connected. https://iangol.netlify.app/sims-3-cheats-mobile-phone-game.html.

Details: VRMark is a third-party testing solution from Futuremark, the team behind 3DMark (a popular benchmarking app for testing PCs prior to VR). VRMark allows you to test two levels — the “Orange Room” and the “Blue Room”. The free version comes with the Orange Room, the paid version has both. The Orange Room is a scene that pushes the limits on a PC that “meets the recommended hardware requirements for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift”, whereas the Blue Room is “a more demanding test with a greater level of detail for future hardware generations”. If your PC can pass the Blue Room, then you just might be ready for whatever comes next in VR too!

VRMark is great if you’re looking for a testing tool that’ll really push your PC to the limit to see how it handles it. The results are much more detailed and provide a comparison so you know how your PC stacks up to others! It also allows you to personally explore scenes while in VR to benchmark test how well your computer actually runs when its got a VR headset connected. The paid version also allows you to see more detailed results, add custom settings and save your results offline.

When you open up VRMark in Steam, it provides an option to run it in SteamVR mode so that you can use a headset. For my tests, I ran it without a headset and just chose “Launch VRMark”:

Then the initial VRMark screen (for the Advanced Edition) looks like so:

The initial screen for VRMark Advanced Edition

When you click “Benchmark”, it runs the Orange Room test. The test shows you the frames per second and elapsed time at the bottom, which is super handy! It looks like so (this is the test that the free version can run too):

Results from the Advanced Version look like so:

VRMark Orange Room results!

I especially like the detail that the results go into. It shows you a comparison of your PC to others at various levels:

For those interested, this is what the Blue Room looks like. My laptop definitely wasn’t quite as good at handling it!

NVIDIA GeForce Experience

Download size: 76.3MB

I cheated at a card game. Price: Free

Download link:http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

Summary: If you’ve got an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card and just want to check your specs against the recommended ones like the Oculus Compatibility Check, this works!

Details: The NVIDIA GeForce Experience app just might already be on your computer if you’ve got an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. Its main focus is on optimising graphics settings for each of your games, sorting out drivers and allowing you to take ingame screenshots and video — however there’s one tiny section in the settings which also tests to see if your PC is virtual reality ready! The settings button is in the top right of the app, next to your username:

Once you click that, you’ll see a “Virtual Reality” heading on the bottom right, that’s where your VR ready info is!

The GeForce Experience settings page with the VR ready information in the bottom right corner

If you click the small arrow in that section, it’ll expand to show you a bit more detail:

Which to choose?

If you want a quick answer as to whether or not your computer is likely to hit the recommended spec for VR, the Oculus or NVidia GeForce options are quick and fast. However, if you’d like to be certain and put your computer through a bit of a test first, then the SteamVR or VRMark options are a better choice. VRMark is the best option if you want to get really detailed and thorough results, however the results are limited in the free version.

Out of interest, what are the recommended specs?

If you’re the sort who wants to do the calculations themselves, here are the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive minimum specs.

Oculus Rift

As of Dec 2016, the recommended specs for the Oculus Rift are:

Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or greater
CPU: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
Memory: 8GB+ RAM
Video Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
USB Ports: 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

Its minimum specs are (I’d recommend sticking to the recommended as a minimum):

Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 960 / AMD Radeon RX 470 or greater
CPU: Intel i3-6100 / AMD FX4350 or greater
Memory: 8GB+ RAM
Video Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
USB Ports: 1x USB 3.0 port, plus 2x USB 2.0 ports
OS: Windows 8 or newer

HTC Vive

As of Dec 2016, the recommended specs for the HTC Vive are:

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce™ GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480, equivalent or better.
CPU: Intel™ Core i5-4590 or AMD FX™ 8350, equivalent or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
Video Output: 1x HDMI 1.4 port, or DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
USB Ports: 1x USB 2.0 port or newer
OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows™ 8.1 or later or Windows™ 10

They don’t list any minimum, so I’d aim towards the recommended either way!

Can I use Mac OS or Linux?

Vr Game Cheating Test Positive

Sadly, not at this time. However, support just might be on its way though for SteamVR. Road to VR reported in Nov 2016 that “Valve is planning to introduce beta versions of its SteamVR platform for Mac OSX and Linux users within a few months.” Whether the VR headsets themselves will all support the OS is another story.

If you are serious about getting into VR and experiencing it fully — I’d recommend sticking with Windows for the foreseeable future.

Hope that helps!
